it used to have a check for when there is a update and give a little message of some kind in the admin area.
But no automatic install as that requires some stuff that can be a security risk.
Mainly due to people not always knowing 100% what to do.
but also cause i think you need safemode OFF to download from other servers.
Best is to simply have a warning show in HCL admin area when a update is released.
HCL 3.0 is coming soon in beta and hopefully soon in Release.
If a warning is not coded into it i will code one for it

Best way to make sure you are up2date with it is to check the site once in a while.
And that reminds me. Perhaps we should make a mailing list for updates and security warnings for HCL.
