What is the purpose of Canned Messages? I have a canned message but it does not display anywhere.    What am I missing?

When I try to add/edit a canned message, I get the following message:

Notice: Undefined variable: operatorid in /hcl/class/canned.  php on line 113

Notice: Undefined variable: departmentid in /hcl/class/canned.  php on line 114

Notice: Undefined variable: messaage in /hcl/class/canned.  php on line 116

It still does create/edit the message.
