Title: Recommended file permissions for best security
Post by: octopuslegs on September 20, 2008, 06:36:39 AM
Hello folks, my first post on this forum.

What are the recommended file permissions for best security on the HCL install prior to making it publicly available?

It will tell you at the end of the setup.   ;D

Thank you for the reply.  To be honest I installed via fantastico, then immediately upgraded to the latest version.  For the life of me, I can't remember if I saw that page or not.  I guess my concern is that the cache, compile and icons folders are 777, is this required? Also is it customary to rename the admin folder to close this potential gap? If I did so is there any effect on the functioning of the setup?

I think the icons folder should be 644.  .  .  But I'm not sure. .  (Would someone correct me if I'm wrong. )

You could probably change the Admin folder name but I'm not sure how to. .
