When we look at our tickets they are saying 12/31/1969 for the today and we have it set for Server Eastern.

this is the format l, F j Y g:ia

Double check your servers time (enter date in a shell).  HCL get's it's date codes from the OS, so if your operating system is reporting the wrong date, then of course the system will as well.

We have installed a test site for HCL from our Cpanel and from the fresh install the date and time stamp for tickets is showing 1969 for date and the time is way too. We have checked with our host and they said that shell and server are set correctly.

You might want to point out to your host that the script uses a simple php time function, straight call from the OS IIRC.

Anyone find and answer to this... I am also having the same problem.

I amusing HCL version 2.1.2, yes I am aware this is an older version, however I need the osTicket plug-in and this was the latest release with the osTicket module that I could find.

Also this isn't browser specific, tried Firefox, IE ... its the same on both.

I did reboot my server, at first the time said it was 7:00PM, as you can see in the picture I time traveled to the past because the date stayed the same, the time however is set at 2:00PM.

If this is cause by the php code (as mentioned in the above posts) where can I find this code at?

UPDATE:

I found this code inside the config.php of the osticket module

Code:
//set timezone to server time if not defined

$config[timezone] = ($config[timezone] == "") ? date("Z") / 3600: $config[timezone];

it looks like that may be the problem but its all greek to me. anyone know what i can do to fix this?

ANOTHER UPDATE:
Inside of the osTicket Module (while in system configuration)
the timezone is set to Eastern with a Time Format of l, F j Y g:ia
 I have tried to change the timezone to server timezone but that just displays the same results.

Also in the MySQL table ticket_config the timezone option is blank ... I am unsure if something needs to be here or what... again totally above my head.

For me, the date is fine but the timezone is off.   My system is showing the correct time both for 'date' and 'hwclock'.   I 'grep' all the files in the the HCL for 'timezone' or anything similar and don't see where the timezone is being specified.   Can anyone point out where I need to go to edit the timezone.   I am showing about 8 hours off my timezone
