there is a very simple solution to (nearly) remove the operator's "time-out".

Open the file "config.php" and look around line 176 for the following text:

$conf['live_timeout'] = '40';

Change this number to an *extremely* high number.
For a week of inactivity use the number: 604800
(60sec x 60min x 24 hours x 7 days = 604800)

I tried this, and the section of operator don't expire anymore, but when an user tries to enter in support, the user receives a message that all operators are busy.
