We've been told that WinApp is no longer available, however it may come back again in the far future.  Right now there are a lot of factors involved with WinApp, I know the developer of it currently has no time to spend on it, and with a paid app, it would require a significant amount of support.

One thing, if you (or anyone else) is a competent programmer, building such an app shouldn't be too hard.  The hooks in HCL are right there for all to see.  I've considered learning .net or brushing up on my (very!) ancient VB skills to build an app.  But at this point I'm settling down to devoting my time to the HCL core.

Support for the WinApp right now is pretty much limited to community support.  If enough people are interested I'd be willing to add a WinApp support forum, however with the disclaimer that it's there as a service to the community, and that there is NO official support for it.

The second part may actually be easier, tho' I'd probably choose Python over PHP (for local applications I find that Python is much faster then PHP...)  Really a local client can be done with any language that allow either Curl or URL calls, or sockets (in which case you get to deal with headers and such)  For Windows, .Net is made for this, and with a little careful planning, you could actually do both Windows and *nix, due to the mono project.

My problem is that until I got Vista, I generally grumped about Windows stability.  I have to give Microsoft one thing, both of the new Vista machines have been awesome, very reliable and not needing to be rebooted ever week (day!).

Now that I have a MS Windows I like, I'm inclined to pickup the new Visual Studio and start playing with it.  However I'd be amazed if there were not some hot .Net programmers out there, or KDE or Gnome, or osX... Etc.

As for the license, at this point only people who paid for a license have one.  I can't condone using a password generator (if one even exists) as it is a violation of the copyright, and not something a business (or really anyone) should consider.  The risks are too high.

At this point I've started on some documentation, I'm hoping that I can have the API for the local clients out within the next month or so.  Basically I document when I'm just too tired to code.  I'd rather typo in the documentation than in the core.   Besides, it works better then hot milk for getting me back asleep.

Sorry, the last few months have been pure hell for getting stuff done on HCL.  I've gotten a little bit of work done, but probably not really helpful.  Note that all the code is in HCL for a client, it just needs documentation on calls and such.

A lot of what your looking for is part of the client.php file.  It's mostly html based.  However that is one of the areas I want to look at changing in 3.0 (we'll try to keep the current style system, but also have a more rich interface in the future).

I have a copy of WinApp 2. 1. 2. 40 in a zip format.  I wish I could find my Key. . .  Most of the functionality is there.  It is working better now than it did with HCL 2. 0. 6.  If anyone has a license and doesn't want it anymore let me know, I will pay you the 20 bucks for it. . .
